XBOX 360 MODS

How Does the Mod Work?

The mod is a modification to the firmware of the Xbox 360 DVD drive.  Basically it 'fools' the DVD drive into recognizing a backup game as an original.

Can the new 'Slim' Xbox be modded?

Yes most Slims with a manufacture date of August 2011 or older (see back of console) can be modded (except those rare units with Hitachi drives), however the chip contaning the firmware on the DVD drive cannot be written too.  So, you must replace the Logic Board in the DVD drive.

What is the most current firmware version?  MAJOR UPDATE DEC 26, 2011

iXtreme LT+ 3.0  is now here!!!

C4E's iXtreme LT+ in association with Team Jungle & Team Xecuter
Official release of the iXtreme LT+ v3.0 for Benq and phat Liteons
- Support for topology data on AP25 enabled titles. Will correctly answer any ap25 challenge eliminating need for dae.bin to create a backup.
- No need to make new backups everytime dae.bin is updated on console

Topology Data
When ap25 was first introduced I devised a way of calculating any challenge which I called the silver bullet which I made reference to a long time ago.
This was withheld until it was absolutely necessary. It was easier to replay the fixed challenges.
With unique per console ap25 challenges it has become necessary to use the silver bullet.
A series of measurements are taken across the disk. This topology data is then used to calculate a response to any ap25 challenge.
It is very important that the drive used to create the topology data is reliable at reading discs as bad topology data equals bad ap25 responses.
Liteon drives using 0800 v3 seem to be more accurate for this purpose. Only ap25 enabled titles require topology data. Activation of ap25 on older non-ap25 games although technically possible is highly unlikely.
Currently topology data for xgd3 titles are similar and topology data from one xgd3 title will pass on another xgd3 title although this is not advisable.
Per title title topology data is best as there are slight differences between titles and newer titles could have different topology than existing ones.

Note: LT 3.0 for the Slim Xbox's is due out in January some time.

What is the new XGD3 games and how do I burn them?

XGD3 (Xbox Game Disc ver3) is the new format of game that requires additional space on the disc to be used.  The only firmware compatible with these discs is LT+ 2.0/3.0.   You will need a new DVD burner for your computer to properly burn these discs.  Calgary Xbox Mods has the burners for $40.

HERE is a decent explanation of why you need the new burner(don't use Memorex discs, the quality is terrible).

Use ABGX 1.06 to patch all your games to work with the new LT 3.0 Firmware.  Download HERE.

How do I know if a game is XGD3?

You can check HERE.

Can I still use Xbox Live?

If you have iXtreme LT+ 2.0/3.0 firmware and stealth check your backups, you should be safe on Xbox Live.  We of course cannot guarantee anything for the future.

Does it work with all games?

Yes, to date all games can be backed up to a dual layer DVD and played on the Xbox 360.

What if a newer firmware is released?  Can I get an update?

Yes, once modded I can update your current firmware with the most up to date release for $25.

What is the cost?

The cost to mod any non-slim Xbox 360 is just $60
