What is a Softmod?
- A softmod is a modification to the software on the hard drive of you xbox. This modification will you allow you to do all the same things that a modchip will do.
What can a softmod do?
- A softmod can do all of the same things that a chip mod will do. It will allow you to play your backup games, store entire games on the hard drive, connect your xbox to the internet, play DVD movies, play mp3's and a host of other things. You can also set up the softmod with a switch to boot with or without the mod activated..
Can I use a softmod on Xbox Live?
- Yes, a softmod can be used on Xbox Live. The softmod can be setup to boot to a completly unmodded state so that Xbox Live can be used.
What are the advantages of a Softmod?
- The biggest advantage of a softmod is that there is no risk of damaging the motherboard of the xbox. A softmod uses a patched version of the Microsoft bios, so all games will work with this mod. A chip often needs to have the bios updated for newer games.
What are the disadvantages of a Softmod?
- The only disadvantage to a softmod is that upgrading the hard drive is a bit more complicated then with a TSOP flash or modchip. However, we can provide the service for just $20 if done at the same time as the initial mod.
Does a softmod work on all versions of Xbox?
Yes, we use the latest NDURE softmod which is 100% compatible with all versions of xbox.
What is the cost to have my Xbox softmodded?
$40 plus an additional $20 if you want to upgrade the hard drive.
